Description
Crisis Support is a basic book on crisis management written for prospective and working nurses, police officers, social workers, psychologists, doctors and others who encounter people who have been affected by difficult events in their daily work or in the event of major accidents and disasters. With vivid and concrete examples, Sara Hedrenius and Sara Johansson describe how to work with psychological first aid to strengthen people's resilience. The reactions and needs of children and young people are given extra care, as well as how staff can take care of themselves and each other.
- Psychological first aid - not debriefing
- Focus on both adults and children
- For healthcare, police, social services and more
- Evidence-based, clear and easily accessible knowledge
- Strengthens professional and personal crisis preparedness
The revolutionary development of knowledge in crisis support has completely changed the view of what actually helps children and adults in difficult events. Debriefing, for example, is no longer recommended in the acute stage - international consensus and the National Board of Health and Welfare instead recommends Psychological First Aid.
Based on current research and their own practical experiences, the authors of the book explain Crisis support how we react to difficult events, from serious illness to major disasters. With living and concrete examples, they describe how to work with Psychological First Aid to strengthen people's resilience. The reactions and needs of children and young people are given extra care, and how staff can take care of themselves and each other.
