Product information
Description
The Tanker Jacket was introduced by the US Army in 1941 under its official name Jacket, Winter, Combat PQ D Spec. No. 26. It would become one of the most popular pieces of clothing in the US military during World War II and was worn until 1979, when a new uniform system was introduced. More recently, it has become popular again after being worn by actor Brad Pitt in the 2014 film Fury , which follows an American tank crew fighting through a burning Germany during the final stages of World War II.
This new production of the Tanker Jacket is an exact replica of the original. The original was part of a complete uniform with matching lined helmet and trousers designed for winter climates. It was issued to the armored units, which gave rise to the jacket's everyday name -Tanker Jacket-. Two different models were created, the first of which had external pockets while the second had sewn-in ones. It is the first model that you can buy here, as it was already worn during the battles in North Africa by the 1st and 2nd Armored Divisions. It was also the model preferred by the colorful and successful General George S. Patton.
Advantages of Tanker Jacket:

- Sustainable materials: cotton twill outer fabric and melton woven wool lining.
- Wind and water resistant: excellent protection against the elements.
- Timeless design: functional and stylish, suitable for both military and civilian use.
- Comfortable details: wool and polyamide cuffs and practical external pockets.
Military history in a nutshell
However, it did not take long for the Tanker Jacket to spread beyond the mechanized units. Its stylish design, comfort and warming properties attracted officers in particular, who were able to get their hands on the jacket through their contacts. After the war, it has also been very popular among civilians due to its classic, timeless design.
This historical replica is made from the same sturdy natural material as the original from the 1940s. It has an inner lining of 100 percent wool. This wool is melton woven, which makes the jacket windproof and water-resistant. The outer fabric is 100 percent cotton twill dyed in the correct shade of Olive drab #3 and the cuffs are made of wool and polyamide. In other words, it is a high-quality piece of clothing and it is also a real piece of military history!
